Sustainability

Sustainability is the ability to maintain or support a process over time. Sustainability is often broken into three core concepts: economic, environmental, and social. Many businesses and governments have committed to sustainable goals, such as reducing their environmental footprints and conserving resources.

The Town of Groton, at the urging of concerned climate scientists and activists — including key members of GCA — created the Resilience & Sustainability Task Force in 2019. In 2021 the Task Force strongly urged the Town Council to adopt and pass a RESOLUTION that “made addressing climate change, resilience and sustainability core functions of all Town government actions.”  More information about several resilience-related projects the Town has been working on is available HERE.
